Itinerary

DAY1: Brocéliande-Josselin

Transfer by bus to the Mont Saint Michel
Lunch will be served in a traditional restaurant located in the Mont Saint Michel.
Welcome by our local guide ; our trip continues by minibus.                  
A drive through the forest of Brocéliande in search of myths. This legendary name was given to the forest of Paimpont located south-west of Rennes. It once belonged to the vast forest area which spread all over the peninsula during the Middle-Ages. Many Celtic legends came from there. You will walk on the tracks of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.                                                 

At the end of the afternoon : visit of the Château de Josselin. You will be welcomed by the Rohan Chabot family who live there.
Walk through gardens and rooms filled with history that give an account of feudal and renaissance architeture.

Then we set off for CARNAC where you settle in your rooms.
Dinner and night at the Best Western Hotel 3*** of Carnac-Plage (or equivalent).

Your hotel is ideally located by the "Grand-Plage" (the beach), the stores and the Casino. You are welcome to use the pool.

DAY2: Quiberon-Carnac-Gulf of Moibihan-Dinan

Buffet breakfast at your hotel.

Discovery of QUIBERON and its fantastic wild coast : the waves continually smashing against the steep granite slopes… Tour of the peninsula via the point of Conguel and the well-known thalassotherapy centre opened in 1964 by Louison Bobet.

Return to CARNAC to visit the famous megalithic site.

Between 4500 and 2000 BC, some 3000 standing stones were placed either to mark the territory, or as ritual monuments or monuments related to astronomy.  

The whole setting of Carnac starts with the so-called "Le Menec" circle. Discover the menhir or "standing stone" mysteries. The fact that they are standing in a row indicates in particular the positions of the sun as the day goes by.

Lunch in a traditional Breton creperie (pancake restaurant).

In the afternoon, on board for a cruise around the GULF OF MORBIHAN on a motor boat with a commentary :"There are as many islands as days in a year", so it is said in the legend !

We land and head for DINAN.
Dinan is situated at the bottom of the Rance estuary, which opens onto the "Côte d'Emeraude" between Dinard and St Malo. Dinan is still totally surrounded by ramparts, the most impressive and the oldest in Brittany. This protection was most appreciated in the times of the duchy and the League. These walls together with the monuments and all the wooden houses are a major asset for the medieval city.

Your 3*** hotel in Dinan has an ideal position on the port along the banks of the Rance, where you can stroll in the evening.

NB : the programme of this day may be reversed according to the boat time-table. 

DAY3: Dinan-Saint Malo-Mont Saint Michel

Buffet breakfast at your hotel.
Panoramic tour of DINAN : the most medieval town of Brittany, surrounded by ramparts, home town of Duguesclin.

We carry on to SAINT MALO, visit of the inner city. You will walk along the port ramparts. Jacques Cartier left from there to discover Canada while shippers and pirates were setting foot to shelter their fortune amassed on the seas.

Lunch on the way.

In the afternoon, visit of the MONT SAINT MICHEL, the famous "rock in the perils of the sea". Visit of the abbey, a real feat performed by enthusiastic architects…
And indeed as Victor HUGO said : "The Mont Saint Michel is to France what the Great Pyramid is to Egypt… This double masterpiece of nature and art must be saved at all costs".  

At 3.30pm we all meet on the parking of the Mont Saint Michel to take the coach back to Paris.
