Day 2: Golf at Omaha Beach golf course
Golf at Omaha Beach golf course, overlooking
the famous 6th of June 1944 landing beaches and the artificial
harbour of Arromanches, the course honouring those who fought
for freedom in giving each hole the name of D-Day heroes.
On the famous nine hole course of La Mer,
only the 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th holes avoid having problems
with distances. Sheltered from the wind because they are
situated on a hill slope, these holes are very technical,
narrow and much hillier than the others. Holes 5, 6 and
7 are again different, all quite long in distance but above
all these holes are situated on the cliff tops facing the
sea and it can get extremely windy. The signature hole is
the 6th, with its green right on the cliff edge, it
offers spectacular views over the charming fishing port
of Port-en-Bessin. The second nine hole course
«Le Bocage» is set in an apple orchard. This
course blends into the natural charm of the Normandy countryside
with its apple trees and hedges and becomes rich in
colours in the spring when the rhododendrons blossom. When
this course is combined with La Mer they become the official
18 hole competition course where each hole is named after
a great personality of the Second World War.
LEtang offers an American style variety
of holes with lots of water. After two very flat holes,
LEtang course slopes down to the water where 4 greens
converge.

flowers. Rhododendrons can also be found around the new
clubhouse, opened at the beginning of 2001. Nearly every

505m -552 yards where the fairway initially slopes to the
left towards the two ponds, and then it gets very bumpy
in the narrow entrance to the green. Two new holes (the
