Description:
January 2003 marked the opening of the CONTINENTALE Contemporary
pleasing hotel in Florence. It is the most modern and recent project
of the Lungarno Hotels, the hotel management company owned by
the Ferragamo family.
With its architectural concept and style of service, the CONTINENTALE
is destined to make a significant advancement in modern international
hospitality. It aims to become the place where a new vision of
the relationship with the guest is formed, based on the strong
values contained in the word pleasing.
Perceiving and treating the guest as an individual and appreciating
a one to one relationship in an atmosphere where pleasure, attention
to detail and unlimited exploration, constitute the original matrix
of every behaviour.
The CONTINENTALE, with its exclusive visual and designer characteristics,
has been enlisted in the DESIGN HOTELS INTERNATIONAL
Network.

Design
|
The design of the
rooms, in a balanced mix between hi-tech and soft design, creates
a mood with modern lightness and brightness outlined through the
use of soft long veils hung around the beds.
The details of quality craftsmanship in the furnishings, synthesized
in the desk-trunk that gives the idea of a journey from the good
old times or the reproductions of the 1950s lamps, are elements
closer to the Italian culture of superb material and workmanship,
that are perceived in the personality of these surroundings.

Continental Design
Upon entering the hotel, the guest
is immediately surprised. From the reception area with a
hi-tech video and a fireplace, to the living room/elevator
a living area that leads up to the bar and to the
lounges where to relax. A display of live images of life
on the road and across Ponte Vecchio, projected on the wall,
accentuates the liveliness of the space that expands beyond
the actual walls.
The entrance is enhanced with an
artistic installation by Fabrizio Corneli, one of the most
original contemporary artists, who purposely created a work
for the Continentale, a brilliant anamorphosis entitled
Strain.
Tokyo, Paris, New York, Rome... a
series of clocks, each ticking at a different hour and blending
into one another, where the concept of time is contradicted,
rendering the Continentale a timeless place where the traveller
may break his daily journey.
The idea of a pleasing hotel, is
topped off in the medieval towers where a fitness area is
entirely dedicated to a remise en forme. The
work-out area is equipped with the best contemporary machines;
a sauna, a massage area and a lounge area where the client
may relax and have a health drink.
The CONTINENTALE: more than just a Hotel, its a state
of mind.
|
|
Intimate & Cosy
The CONTINENTALE proposes itself
as an intimate and cosy drawing room, a meeting
place for the new international nomads where
the spaces rich with a contemporary and detailed interpretation,
evoke a feeling of the 1950s.
The name, that deliberately recalls
and emphasizes the positive and cosmopolitan character of
the utmost Italian spirit, creates a glamorous environment,
a delightful, enjoyable and fascinating experience, even
for those who have vastly travelled.
|
The Concept
The concept of the Hotel is based
on the experience of those extraordinary years when cultured
travellers could live the birth of Italian Style which was
a mix of joy of life and intellectual adventure
that spanned from cinema to design.
The CONTINENTALE wants to restore
these universal values and transfer them into our time with
levity and wonder, with particular attention to the centrality
of the individual and to the congenial gestures, that generate
inner, as well as outer well-being.

JUNIOR SUITES - Rooms with double
bed, two queen beds or twin beds.
Each of the Junior Suites is distinctive for its particular
atmosphere, its own personality. You can chose one with
a romantic view over the river, or one built on two floors,
each with its own bathroom. Or decide to give yourself all
of these privileges at the same time. And each suite is
ideal for accommodating a third person, with ample, private
space for each occupant.
|
|
EXECUTIVE - Rooms with double bed
or two queen beds.
The proportions of the interior spaces and the scrupulous
care taken in details make these rooms places of great wellbeing
and pleasure. Their spacious terraces are real outdoor living
rooms between the river and the stars: for dining, reading
or relaxing in peace and quiet, with the pure beauty of
the Renaissance city in the background.
|
|
DE LUXE - Rooms with double bed.
Situated on the upper floors, with a view of the river and
a truly unique panorama: Brunelleschis Dome, Giottos
Bell Tower, Ponte Vecchio, Florence in all its splendor.
Equally romantic, although without the river view, is the
room in the medieval Tower: bare stone walls, a canopied
double bed, and all of the atmosphere of an ancient manor
combined with every comfort of modern life.
|
|
SUPERIOR - Rooms with double bed
or two twin beds.
Almost all of them overlooking the river, Ponte Vecchio
and the monumental Florence of the Lungarni, these rooms
offer spacious size and the emotion of a unique view. They
are available according to request with balconies, terraces
or splendid floor to ceiling sliding windows.
|
|
CLASSIC - Rooms with double bed or
two twin beds.
Comfortable rooms with walls painted in warm yellow tones,
they reflect all of the harmony distinctive of the hotel.
They overlook the ancient streets and rooftops of the city
and, on the upper floors, the panorama provides exciting
glimpses of monuments and palaces.
