About our Photo Tours

Adventures thru the Lens Photo Tours are Urban Adventures. The goal is for travelers to:


• Discover and experience a city through the eyes of a local photographer.
• Encourage the observation of new viewpoints and interesting details which might easily be overlooked.
• To improve photography technique.
• To have a more interesting experience and involvement when visiting a city.
• Have fun

Our English-speaking Photographers have in-depth local knowledge, a passion for their city and for the art of photography. Photographers are carefully selected for their breadth of style and experience in either travel or photo-documentary/reportage.
So bring your camera and be prepared to walk, shoot and click.

About your photographer

Languages : English, Hebrew

Born in London in 1948, Abba mmigrated to Israel in 1967. Studied Graphic Design at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem for four years and a fifth post-graduate year in photography. Abba Richman is a Photographer, Graphic Designer and Lecturer and Consultant in Photography and Graphic Design.

    Discover Jerusalem and learn how to take beautiful photos!

    Some of the things you will learn:

    • Basic recap of camera controls, meter readings and focus controls. Camera modes, aperture and shutter controls.
    • Composition and "Visual" observation.
    • The eternal question of "What to photograph"?
    • Street Portraits, aids and excercises in the visual search for the perfect composition.

    SEASONS : Summer : April 1 - October 31 - Winter : November 1 - March 31

    Cost: 125 € per person

    PHOTO ROUTES

    Jerusalem Old and New - MT-JRSLM-PH-1

    IN SEASON: Summer + Winter

    MONDAY MORNING:

    • 9:00-1.00pm

    DEPARTURE POINT: Corner of Sacher Park (Gan Sacher) and Bezalel Street - next to gas station

    ENDING POINT: Downtown Jerusalem

    TOURS HIGH POINTS: Modern Architecture, eighteenth century alleys, buildings, unique building facades, windos, ironwork, doors. Market stalls, modern boutiques, Street Portraits.

    On your journey you will experience the history of the city’s through its magnificent architecture. From Roman remains to its modernist buildings. In particular you will see the outstanding contribution of Antoni Gaudi as you photograph the outside of two of his masterpieces - La Pedrera (Casa Mila) and Casa Batlo. Much of todays city ‘s cultural and artistic currents is in large part thanks to him.

    Another of Barclona’s famous attractions is its gastronomy. You will experience the colors, taste and smells of La Boqueria the best food market in Barcelona. Here you have an ideal opproturinuity to learn and experiment in shooting in low light and metering for different subjects.

    You will arrive at the Barri Gotico, the old part of town and walk along the original Roman road between medieval walls to photograph the narrow streets and town squares.

    Finally at Paseo de Borne near Parque Ciudella if you have brough a digital camera your guide will give you a critique of some of the photos taken.

     

    A Religious Cocktail - Jerusalem's unique mix of Jews Moslems and Christians - MT-JRSLM-PH-2

    WEDNESDAY MORNING:

    • 9:00am-1.00pm

    DEPARTURE POINT: Shabbat Square (Kikar Shabbat) corner of Malachei Yisrael and Strauss streets at the Bank Leumi ATM machine.

    ENDING POINT: Jewish quarter Old City Jerusalem

    TOURS HIGH POINTS: Jerusalem's unique population mix of Jews, Moslems, and Christians are a photographers dream. Black clad, Jews, Modern orthodox Jews, Traditionaly dressed Arabs, and a special mix of east and west.

    The tour will start in Jerusalem's famous Ultra Orthodox Jewish neighbourhood of Geula and Mea Shearim. Populated by ultra Orthodox Jews, it's stores catering to the local population as well as the thriving tourist trade, are a gold mine of visual treats. The tour will go through the Mea Shearim (100 Gates) quarter and down to the Damascus Gate and on through the Old City's moslem quarter. It's markets are renown for foodstufs, oriental bazaars, souvenirs and it's rich merchandise serving tourists from nearly every country on earth. Photographing buildings that are between hundrds and thousands of years old and walking streets where Jesus and he Jewish High preists, not to mention Crusaders and Turks once walked, will be a truly exhilirating and spiritul experience. The tour will end at the Western Wall.

     

    Jerusalem at Night - MT-JRSLM-PH-3

    IN SEASON: Summer + Winter

    THURSDAY MORNING:

    • Summer 8:00 - 11:00
    • Winter 5:00 - 8:00 pm

    DEPARTURE POINT: King David Hotel

    ENDING POINT: Zion Square - corner Kaffa and Ben Yehuda Streets

    TOURS HIGH POINTS: Architechture at night with different blends and colours of lighting. Jerusalem's Old City walls illuminated at night and indoor night photography at select bars.

    A photographic tour of Jerusalem at night starting with Jerusaelm's YMCA building, a blend of classic European and Oriental architechture, continuing to a special vantage point overlooking the Tower of David and the Old City walls. You will continue past the David's Citadel hotel (designed by world famous architecht Moshe Safdie) to the centre of Jerusalem's night life in the Nachalat Shiva quarter. This is the first residential quarter to be built outside the Old City walls. Now a blend of restaurants, shops and trendy bars. The tour will end at Zion Square.
